A mostly sunny start today will feature increasing clouds this afternoon followed by some rain later tonight.
The National Weather Service says inland areas of Connecticut - especially higher-elevation towns - could have a period of wet snow.
High temperatures will be several degrees below normalin the lower to mid 40s.
Light rain will then develop late tonight and continue into the first half of Tuesday as a frontal system moves through the area.
Lows tonight will be in mid 30s inland to around 40 at the coast.
Highs on Tuesday will top out in the upper 40s to lower 50s.High pressure and dry conditions build in Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
Wednesday Night: A chance of rain showers before 2 a.m., then rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday: Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all rain after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
