Rain/Snow Today: We have largely missed out on the snow in the north so far this morning thanks to some dry air. Besides a little bit of possible sunshine early this morning, mainly in the north, skies will quickly become cloudy today. In the late morning to early afternoon, rain will begin to overspread our viewing area from the south. Before this happens, temperatures will reach the upper 30s south of highway 20. While that should end up being the high for the day, it may keep the activity as rain for a few hours. Temperatures continue to warm to the low 40s north of highway 20 with a southeast wind at 10 to 15 mph.
While the surface will be above freezing, we will have pretty cold, below freezing air, just above the surface and beyond. This will lead to a chance for a rain and snow mix later in the afternoon even with temperatures in the mid 30s. As temps cool further into the evening, straight up snow is possible for areas along and south of highway 20. This will quickly depart around midnight from west to east. With ground and surface temperatures so warm, we shouldn't see any travel impacts but minor accumulations from a trace up to an inch will be possible on grassy and elevated surfaces from highway 20 and south.
Tonight: Once the snow ends we will see cloudy skies and lows stabilizing in the low to mid 30s. A south wind continues at 5 to 10 mph.
Monday: Any snow that sticks will not last long with highs in the mid to upper 40s for Monday with mostly cloudy skies and a south wind at 5 to 10 mph.
Another Rainy Week: A couple more systems will come down the pipe throughout the workweek. Starting Monday night and Tuesday, rain will become likely with highs in the upper 40s. A second system will roll through on Wednesday with slightly warmer temperatures. This will also bring a chance for rain and some snow into Wednesday night. Temperatures will cool to the upper 40s for the rest of the week with a slight chance for more rain on Thursday and again on Friday.
With rivers already forecast to run high from the rain last week, we may see more issues with the forecast this week as some areas could see another inch plus of rain.
