TUCSON - Sunny and warm with highs in the upper 90s and a slight chance for storms this afternoon. Triple digits return starting midweek!
We have some moisture to work with again today but the best chance for storms will be to the west and southwest of Tucson this afternoon. The biggest impacts will be gusty wind and frequent lightning so stay weather AWARE. Storms will be limited the rest of the week.
Smoke from the California Wildfires will continue to clear out as high pressure moves over the Southwest. Air quality remains moderate for Ozone so continue to limit your time outside if you have any respiratory problems.
Thanks to high pressure, temperatures will warm a few degrees above average with highs near or slightly above 100° starting Wednesday. As of now, we'll drop back into the upper 90s by the weekend and that will continue into early next week.
So far this year we've had 91 days above 100° and that could add up to 94 days if we warm into the triple digits Wednesday through Friday. The record still stands at 99 days back in 1994 but 2020 is getting closer and closer!
