Triple digits takeover - KVOA Tucson News

TUCSON - Triple digits are making their dreaded return this afternoon with more on the way early next week. O Fall, where are you?

High pressure will continue to dominate our forecast for the next week with highs in the low 100s. The ridge will get even stronger early next week, bringing potentially record-breaking highs. Temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will sit around 102° and triple digits could stick around most of next week!

So far this year we've had 94 days above 100°. The record to beat is 99 days in 1994 and it looks like we could break it by Tuesday...

Summer 2020 was the hottest ever recorded and temperatures will remain well above average as we head into October. Luckily, with the lower sun angle and less daytime heating, we won't get excessively hot. However, the latest 100° day recorded was on October 16th 1991...maybe 2020 will challenge that too.

At least our overnight lows will stay comfortable with temperatures dropping into the 60s and low 70s each morning! If you have to anything strenuous outdoors, do it early! Stay hydrated and limit your time outside.

  • Today: Sunny and hot. High: 101°
  • Tonight: Clear and comfortable. Low: 71°
  • Tomorrow: Sunny and hot. High: 101°
