The Bloomington Police Department has issued a press release regarding a crime scene in the Hyde Park Neighborhood. This story will be updated.

“Bloomington Police Investigate Triple Homicide – Suicide
On September 6th, 2020 at approximately 10:17 a.m., officers with the Bloomington Police Department responded to a residence in the 2600 block of S Olcott Boulevard in reference to a welfare check on the occupants of the home. The complainant reported that she had gone to the residence to pick her friend up but nobody answered the door when she knocked. The complainant used a key to enter the residence and when she walked into her friend’s room, it immediately appeared that her friend was deceased. The complainant then exited the house and called 911.
Officers made entry into the residence and located four deceased individuals with gunshot wounds. Evidence at the scene indicated that a 61 year-old man had shot and killed his 54 year-old wife, his 26 year-old daughter, and his 18 year-old son before shooting himself. The motive for the shootings is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
The names of the victims will not be released until notification can be made to next of kin. Autopsies for all four deceased individuals will be scheduled in the coming days. No further information will be released at this time.
