kmatabunga.blogspot.com

There is always a dynamic duo on all great football teams. Even triple threats. That's what separates good teams from great teams. They're all in, all over the field, creating problems for opposing defenses.

Let's look at the best Dynamic Duos or Triple Threats for the Arizona high school 2020 football season.

Top 30 Dynamic Duos & Triple Threats

No. 1 Chandler: Mikey Keene, Kyion Grayes, Eli Sanders

This could be the most explosive offense in Arizona with quarterback Keene and wide receiver Grayes maybe the state's best dynamic duo. Throw in the versatility of tailback Eli Sanders, and it's pick your poison on trying to contain this offense. There are so many other threats in this offense that it's no wonder the Wolves are among top teams in the nation.

No. 2  Scottsdale Saguaro: Denzel Burke, Javen Jacobs

Two of the state's best overall athletes. You can basically plug them anywhere on offense and defense and the Sabercats can roll, behind these game-changers. Both are talented receivers and defensive backs. Maybe Christian Kirk and Byron Murphy 2.0.

No. 3 Chandler Hamilton: Nicco Marchiol, Jack Howell, Noah Schmidt

This is the Colorado infusion that just might put the Huskies over the top to win the Open Division state title. Marchiol is regarded as one of the nation's top junior quarterbacks. Howell, one of the best safeties who committed to Colorado State, can dial up big plays as a receiver. And Schmidt ran for close to 2,000 yards as a junior last season at Aurora Grandview.

No. 4 Saguaro: Quintin Somerville, Tristan Monday

Two of the biggest forces at defensive end in the state, and they're on the same team. Somerville, a senior, has committed to Michigan. Monday, a junior, has Power 5 offers.

No. 5 Gilbert Mesquite: Ty Thompson, Andrew Morris

Thompson is a 5-star quarterback committed to Oregon, and he'll take great advantage of the versatility of Morris. Morris, a junior, is known for his abilities on defense, but he is a big-play receiver who can flank out and dial it up. It's as if these two guys can reach each other's minds on the field.

No. 6 Goodyear Desert Edge: Adryan Lara, Andrew Patterson

This will be one of the better passing duos in Arizona. Lara puts up huge numbers and he has two more years left in high school. Patterson, now a senior, came into his own last year as a big-play receiver.

No. 7 Mesa Red Mountain: George Ramirez, Parker McClure

WR Ramirez on offense can change the game. And his defensive abilities at safety, combined with McClure at linebacker gives the Lions a potent punch. They're always going to be around the ball making plays for the Lions, who again appear to have what it takes to make a run at a title.

No. 8 Gilbert Williams Field: Aziya Jamison, Kaden Cloud

Maybe the most dynamic backfield in the state. Both ran for more than 1,000 yards as sophomores last season. Cloud did it, even not being a full-time starter the full season on Williams Field's run to the 5A title. Jamison carried American Leadership-Queen Creek to the 3A crown last year. His transfer move over to Williams Field gives Coach Steve Campbell an incredible 1-2 punch out of the backfield.

No. 9 Phoenix Pinnacle: Devon Dampier, Duce Robinson

This might be the best sophomore duo in the state with QB Dampier and hybrid tight end Robinson, already a man-child at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds. These guys could be dialing it up big much the same way Kyle Allen and Mark Andrews did at Scottsdale Desert Mountain.

No. 10 Gilbert Higley: Kai Millner, Truitt Robinson

A great QB-WR tandem, Millner is one of the state's top-rated quarterbacks who has committed to California. Pruitt should come into his own this season as a big-player receiver. He is the brother of Nebraska defensive lineman Ty Robinson.

No. 11 Glendale Ironwood: Will Haskell, Elijah Sanders

Dynamic passing duo with QB Haskell and WR Sanders. Sanders keeps making huge strides as a dynamo making plays after catches. He won't leave the field. And the way Haskell can extend plays with his legs, it will only buy time with Haskell able to take big shots downfield to Sanders.

No. 12 Queen Creek: Hunter Barth, Krew Jackson

Maybe the state's best safety duo. Both have committed to Power 5 colleges with Barth to California and Jackson to Kansas State. They cover a lot of field. They're sure tacklers. And they create turnovers. Great last protection for any defense in Arizona or in the nation, for that matter.

No. 13 Scottsdale Chaparral: Brayten Silbor, Jared Williams, Max Minor

This is an incredible trio to have on offense with QB Silbor finding options between running back Williams and wide receiver Minor. All big-play threats. Silbor's poise, accuracy and arm strength are reminiscent of USC QB Kedon Slovis, who played at Scottsdale Desert Mountain.

No. 14 Gilbert Highland: Gage Dayley, Ammon Allen, Max Davis

On offense, it's the talented duo of QB Dayley and RB Davis. On defense, Allen will make himself known on the back end with help from linebacker Kam Cullimore and safety Taylor Siren. There is also the return of defensive end Cooper Brown, who was out last year with a torn ACL.

No. 15 Mesa Desert Ridge: Jordan Wilson, Avantae Barrett

This gives the Jaguars a running back tandem not seen since 2013 when Taren Morrison ran for more than 2,000 yards and teams also had to worry about Alec Hathcock and Justin Irby popping loose for big runs. Coach Jeremy Hathcock says this duo reminds him of that 2013 team that averaged 356 rushing yards during an 11-2 season.

No. 16 Queen Creek Casteel: Dane Christensen, Isaiah Newcombe

Christensen can dial it up with the best of them with a strong, accurate arm, and he'll have one of the most elusive receivers to get the ball to in Newcombe, a UCLA commit, who is the son of head coach Bobby Newcombe.

No. 17 Peoria Centennial: Chris Tasby, D.J. Gleash

These are bookend defensive ends that will create havoc in the backfield for opposing teams. Both have speed, power and quickness to elude the best offensive tackles. The Coyotes' defense should be fast and furious with these guys coming at quarterbacks.

No. 18 American Leadership Gilbert North: Jack Ricedorff, Emeka Ogbonna

Ricedorff will be a three-year starter playing for his uncle, Randy Ricedorff. Now he's got big-time help with the addition of running back Emeka Ogbonna, who transferred in from Phoenix Brophy Prep this summer.

No. 19 Queen Creek: Trey Reynolds, Porter Reynolds

Trey is a senior and his brother Porter a sophomore. And they're linebackers who can stop the run and break up pass plays. They'll make their mark on defense this year for the Bulldogs as the best brother linebacker duo in the state.

No. 20 Scottsdale Notre Dame: Damian Owens, Sean Lehman, Gavin Smith

They're all returner varsity players who will light it up on offense at receiver. Owens is a phenomenal route runner with great hands and big-play abilities. Lehman, also a lock-down cornerback, is explosive with speed. Smith might be the team's most versatile athlete.

No. 21 Flagstaff: Luis Jaramillo,  Ryan Tagle

Both of these guys are getting FCS recruiting interest. Jaramillo, 6-feet, 220 pounds, is entering his senior season with 2,300 rushing yards, 300 receiving yards and 32 TDs. At middle linebacker, he has had 140 tackles. Tagle, 6-0, 180, will show up big at receiver and in the secondary. Great vertical jump, exceptional speed.

No. 22 Casa Grande: Angel Flores, R.J. Keeton

Florez is one of the best up-and-coming quarterbacks with a high ceiling. And he's got Keeton, one of the toughest running backs, complementing him in the backfield, keeping defenses honest. They're only juniors and getting better

No. 23 Glendale Mountain Ridge: Deric English, Brendan Anderson

Only sophomores, but they're ready to make a big splash in 6A with English catching passes from Anderson. Both are among the top 50 prospects in The Arizona Republic's Fab 50 list for the 2023 class.

No. 24 Tucson Sabino: AJ Skaggs, Isiah Aguirre

Skaggs, the school's record-setting quarterback, lost three wide receivers from last year's 3A team, but WR Aquirre will show he can make the switch from JV QB to varsity impact wideout this year. Their chemistry was built  in the offseason working together, so expect the passing game to once again be the team's strong suit.

No. 25 Goodyear Estrella Foothills: Quinlan Popham, Matt Gundogan

They call them the "Backer Bros" at Estrella Foothills. The senior linebackers are getting college attention for their diligence on and off the field. They've both been all-region the last two years and selected to the team's Leadership Council.

No. 26 Chandler Arizona College Prep: Kellen Gibson, Joel Diaz

This is the heart and soul of a talented 3A defense with Gibson at linebacker and Diaz at safety. Last year they had a combined 226 tackles. Kellen is the captain in the box and Joel is the captain in the secondary.

No. 27 Surprise Valley Vista: Tyson, Trenton Givens

These are identical twins who happen to be the team's best dynamic duo. Both excel in the classroom (both better than 4.0 GPAs), in track and field in the hurdles and are poised to have a dynamic year in football with Tyson at wide receiver and Trenton at cornerback. Trenton and Tyson in practice makes for great one-on-one matchups in 7-on-7s.

No. 28 Parker: Eman Alaniz, Uriah Martinez

Alaniz plays wingback and Martinez fullback in what should be a solid offense. Both ran for more than 1,300 yards and combined for 35 touchdowns in an offensive system that spreads the ball around.

No. 29 Phoenix Christian: Adrian Fleming, Howard Russell

Fleming missed the first five games after transferring from Phoenix North last year. He changes the offense, turns it from a Wing T to a spread with his quick release and accuracy. He's got a remarkable talent to get the ball to in Russell, who makes big plays after catches.

No. 30 Tempe Corona del Sol: Quade Swearengin, Jake Schmidt

Swearengin broke through last year as a dangerous quarterback and he'll have a go-to target in Schmidt, a tight end, who can flank out. The Aztecs can make it the Three Amigos with Bryce Douglass, who is ready to break out big.
