kmatabunga.blogspot.com

The Los Angeles Lakers will try to clinch their 17th championship on Sunday night in Game 6 of the 2020 NBA Finals vs. the Miami Heat on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Lakers failed to close out the Heat in Game 5 on Friday night, losing 111-108. Jimmy Butler had another massive triple-double for Miami and hit the go-ahead free throws to extend the series. LeBron James and Anthony Davis will look to close things out. AD is going to play through a heel injury. Goran Dragic is active for the Heat. We’ll be tracking all the action live here.

Update — LeBron James brought home Finals MVP for the fourth time in his career. He’s won the award in every championship in his career. He’s second all-time with 4 Finals MVP awards, two behind Michael Jordan, who has 6.

Final Update: Lakers 106, Heat 93 — The Lakers have done it. The season is finally over. LeBron James had a triple-double to help the Lakers finish off the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the 2020 NBA Finals to win the title. It’s the 17th championship in Lakers history and James captured his 4th title in 10 finals appearances.

LeBron finished with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Anthony Davis scored 19 points and 15 rebounds. PLAYOFF Rajon Rondo finished with 19 points off the bench. The Lakers pretty much ran through the playoffs inside the NBA bubble. They didn’t lose a series in less than five games until the Finals against the Heat.

BIG UPDATE — J.R. SMITH IS SHIRTLESS AND THE LAKERS HAVE BEEN CHAMPIONS FOR MAYBE 5 MINUTES?

We’ve got to give a shoutout to Jimmy Butler and the Heat for putting up a fight. Butler battled out there and proved that he has what it takes to be a champion given the right situation. The Heat have a bright future with Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo along with Butler for the next couple of seasons.

It was AD’s first title as well as Dwight Howard. Rajon Rondo gets his second championship along with Smith. Danny Green is up to three rings after winning with the Spurs and Raptors.

9:49 — LeBron just completed his 11th triple-double in the finals, most in NBA history. Of course he gets a triple-double in this game. After we bet on it to happen the previous three games. Yep. Bad beats for days. The Lakers are up 97-75 with 4:14 left in the game.

9:39 — UH OH, HERE COME THE HEAT! Miami is only down by 21 points. It’s still very unlikely that the Heat come back to make this a game but I don’t think anyone thought it would go to Game 6. The Lakers would need to go ice cold to lose this game. They would need to go ice cold just for the Heat to get back into it. The live line on DKSB is down to -18 though. If you got the Heat at like +25, things aren’t looking too bad.

Third quarter update — The score is 87-58 after the third quarter. This game is over. The season is over. The Lakers will be champions after 12:00.

9:26 — I don’t know what else needs to be said about this game. The Heat might not get to 60 points after the third quarter. This might be one of the worst performances by a team in Finals history. Or is it just an insanely dominant effort by the Lakers? Both can be argued. Tracking some of our player props, LeBron leads all scorers with 19 points. It’s unclear if he’ll finish as the top scorer overall given the game is out of hand. Rondo is up to 3 assists and Butler already made a 3-pointer.

9:11 — The Lakers are still up by 28 and LeBron already has a double-double. He needs 4 assists to complete the triple-double, which would be the third in an elimination game in the past four series in the playoffs. Davis has 15 points and 7 assists. James will most likely be named Finals MVP, his fourth in his career.

Live lines — The Lakers are favored by 22 points on the live line and the O/U is at 205 because the Heat can’t score. L.A. is most likely going to coast to a championship in this one, but if you think Miami can make a run with only a half left in their season, I mean, that’s on you.

Halftime update — So, this series is over. The Lakers are crushing the Heat by 28 at halftime. The Heat haven’t been able to do anything on offense and look flat. The Lakers’ defense has been everywhere in the first half. So yeah, the Lakers are most likely looking at their 17th championship, pending some kind of miraculous comeback by the Heat in the second half. LeBron will most likely get to a triple-double and will be crowned Finals MVP after this game. He’s got 11-9-6 at halftime. AD has 15 points and 5 boards at the half as well.

8:33 — The Lakers are absolutely dominating on defense. The Heat aren’t getting any easy looks. Miami is down to 35% shooting from the floor and have 7 turnovers. L.A. just went up 48-32 on a crazy shot by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and this isn’t looking goo for the Heat.

8:18 — The Lakers are running away with this a bit. They’re up by 12, 35-23 early in the second quarter. It makes a lot of sense because the Lakers need to finish the Heat in this game and not get to Game 7. The Heat have very little sense of urgency and I don’t know why Dragic is out there. He’s a liability on defense and isn’t adding anything on offense. The Heat have won two games riding Jimmy Butler and he only has 4 points and 3 assists early on.Andre Iguodala also has to, like, stop shooting the ball. Miami isn’t even shooting that bad but the Lakers are hitting everything.

First quarter recap — Goran Dragic checked in toward the end of the quarter and the Lakers are up 28-20 after the first. LeBron has 9 points, 5 boards and 3 assists, and Anthony Davis is up to 8 points. The Lakers have done a good job defensively on Jimmy Butler, who only has 3 points after the quarter. If this continues, the Lakers could be crowned champs by the end of the night.

7:49 — The Lakers are up early and LeBron is off to a hot start with 6 points and 4 rebounds. This is definitely going to be the game that he gets a triple-double after we chased the elusive LeBron triple-double in three straight games before tonight.

Pre-Game bets — I didn’t get anything in for Game 6 but Ameer Tyree, our Staff Writer, wrote up some player props he likes on DraftKings Sportsbook. He has LeBron James to be top point scorer at -167, Jimmy Butler to go over 0.5 3-pointers at -121, and Rajon Rondo to go over 5.5 assists at +110. So we’ll be tracking some of those plays. I’m on the Heat at +6 on the spread. I think this game will be tight and Dragic is active. Anthony Davis is a bit banged up and he was the big issue for the Heat on defense.
