OAKLAND — Police were at the scene of a triple shooting that left at least one person dead Thursday night in the city’s Webster neighborhood, authorities said.

Shortly before 8:35 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire near 89th Avenue and International Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found two male victims and a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of 89th Avenue and provided emergency life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, one of the males was pronounced dead at the scene.

One victim suffered a graze wound to the face while another suffered a wound to the lower body, an Oakland police officer said. Both victims were taken to hospitals, where they were initially listed in stable condition late Thursday.

One resident, who declined to identify himself, said he heard four gunshots ring out: “I can’t say I was standing there. That’d be lying. […] It’s just a shame, man. This is ridiculous. I hear this so often it don’t even mean nothing anymore.”

Additional responding officers briefly blocked off eastbound traffic at 88th Avenue and blocked westbound traffic at 90th Avenue, including AC Transit buses, for a longer period while gathering evidence.

The killing brought to 83 the number of homicides investigated by Oakland police this year, of which 78 are classified as murders. For all of last year, Oakland had 80 homicides of which 75 were classified as a murder, which is the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the homicide. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821. For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in each injury shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
