There’s little respite in sight for millions of southeast Texas residents Sunday as a heat advisory persists in the region, with heat indexes upward of 100 degrees in Houston.
By the afternoon, thermometers are expected to hit the upper 90s to low 100s, according to the National Weather Service. It may feel closer to 110 degrees in some parts, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory through 7 p.m. Sunday, continuing a weekend of burning heat that tied records for high and low temperatures on record in the city of Houston. Sunday’s hot weather could put heat records at risk again.
Scattered thunderstorms could roil the skies later in the day, bringing isolated showers across the Greater Houston region. A cold front developing early this week could drop temperatures and make for cooler nights.
