JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JSO is investigating a shooting that sent three people to the hospital. It happened in the Highlands neighborhood off Monaco Drive Saturday night.
Police expect the three victims to recover from their injuries. Meanwhile, police are still looking for the shooter or shooters.
Kody Westbrook heard the gunshots late Saturday night.
”I was upstairs in my room on a conference call and all I heard was three gunshots go off, and like five or six minutes later, I heard the police cars outside,” he said.
Westbrook has lived on the Northside for 30 years; he says he hears gunshots almost daily.
”It’s really no big deal for me because I’m used to hearing gunshots every night, pretty much. It’s a typical thing around here,” he said.
Westbrook wishes the violence in his area would stop. He says people who don’t live on the Northside are afraid of going there.”It would be nice if people would stop shooting people around here, because they’re obviously giving the Northside a bad name,” Westbrook added.
Police haven’t released any suspect information; the violent crimes unit is investigating.
Action News Jax ran the address where the shooting happened through JSO’s crime mapping system. In the last six months, 35 violent crimes were reported in a half-mile radius of where the shooting happened.
