Three years ago, an Oklahoma offense led by future first-round picks Kyler Murray, Marquise Brown and CeeDee Lamb hosted an Army team led by a whole bunch of future lieutenants. The Sooners managed just 21 points in regulation. Not because they couldn’t move the ball down the field (they averaged nearly 9 yards per play in their overtime win) but because their offense was rarely on the field. The Black Knights, with their pesky triple-option offense, held the ball for nearly 45 of 60 minutes, running the ball 78 times and throwing nine passes.
Kansas, which has spent the past decade struggling to hang with any Big 12 team, much less juggernaut Oklahoma, finds itself in need of a new football coach yet again.
