NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Three men were shot on Canal Street near the French Quarter on Friday night (Oct. 8), New Orleans police said.
The incident occurred at 8:57 p.m., in the 800 block of Canal between Carondelet and Baronne streets. Police said one victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital by New Orleans EMS. Two other victims arrived at hospitals later in private vehicles, one with a gunshot wound to the hip and another wounded in one of his legs.
The NOPD did not identify the shooting victims, disclose their ages, nor say whether they had developed a suspect or motive for the shooting.
The triple shooting was the 12th reported incident of gun violence in New Orleans since last Monday, according to police. There have been 23 people shot -- seven fatally -- in those dozen incidents over the past five days.
