ANTIOCH — Three people were shot Sunday evening near a local park in the city’s second shooting this weekend, authorities said.
Shortly after 5:40 p.m., firefighters and paramedics responded to reports of a medical emergency at Larkspur and Sunflower drives, east of Hillcrest Park’s south parking lot.
According to a police department social-media post at 6:06 p.m., officers were investigating a shooting with two people struck at Larkspur and Bellflower drives.
In a press release late Sunday, police said officers responded to the 1300 block of Larkspur for a report of a shooting with multiple victims, and arrived to find a 23-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said the victims were part of a large crowd attending a peaceful vigil when more than one person began shooting. The victims were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators did not immediately share information about suspect or vehicle descriptions.
It was the city’s second shooting incident this weekend after a fatal shooting Saturday night on Travesio Way, and its second shooting involving multiple victims within less than a week, after two men were shot at a gas station last Wednesday morning.
In a press release update Sunday, police said one victim of that shooting died last Thursday, identifying him as Johnta White, 25, of Richmond. No updates were offered on the other victim, identified only as a 30-year-old Antioch resident.Anyone with information may call a police non-emergency line at 925-778-2441 or text-a-tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword ANTIOCH.
