Joan Moyer, the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club’s first female president, and Linda Enders, a member of the Board of Directors and the first female Chair of the Rentschler Arboretum Committee, will share about the incredible impact women have had on the Appalachian Trail as leaders, stewards and hikers.
Joan and Linda will share how women helped to transform the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club from a group created for “100 men in good standing” that predated the Appalachian Trail into an all-inclusive organization made up of members who volunteer thousands of hours each year to maintain the AT and serve the community.
After Joan and Linda’s discussion, they will lead attendees on a 45-minutes hike along the Berks County Parks Department’s historic Gravity and Ferndale trails.
This is a FREE event geared toward adults but children 8 and older may attend with an accompanying adult.
Registration is required at least 24 hours in advance of the program date. To register or for more information, please email [email protected] or call 610-374-2944, ext 2611.
