Arrest affidavits for the three alleged assailants in the July 17 shootings along rural Lake Streety Road in Frostproof detail the fatal wounds to each of the three men. Tony "T.J." Wiggins, 26, of Frostproof, is accused of firing the fatal shots that night, and remains in the Polk County Jail without bail.

William Robert Wiggins, 21, told Polk County sheriff’s detectives he watched his brother shoot Brandon Rollins, 27, Keven Springfield, 30, and Damion Tillman, 23, the affidavits state.

Wiggins said he drove his brother to Lake Streety, along with Mary Clare Whittemore, 27, after hearing that Springfield was meeting friends there to go fishing. He said as they pulled up on the three friends, where Tillman was in one truck and Springfield and Rollins were in another, and he witnessed the gunfire, according to the affidavits.

One bullet hit Rollins in the left shoulder and another in the area of his left collarbone, detectives stated, referencing an autopsy. The third bullet hit his right firearm, also striking the fingertips on his right hand. Dr. Stephen Nelson, who conducted the autopsy, recovered one projectile from Rollins’ lower back.

Springfield was shot twice – once in the neck and once in the head, the arrest affidavits state. Both bullets passed straight through his body.

Tillman, whom Robert Wiggins said was the last to be shot, was hit three times in the chest and once in the right arm, according to the affidavits.

Robert Wiggins told detectives he tried to stop his brother after the first shot was fired.

"(Wiggins) stated after the first shot, he got out of the white pickup he was driving and ran towards (T.J. Wiggins) to try to stop him, though the shooting was done before he could get to (him)," according to the affidavits.

He also said he heard his brother repeatedly asking Springfield, "Where is it?," and Springfield replying that he didn’t know what T.J. Wiggins was talking about. Detectives have said T.J. Wiggins had accused Springfield, a mechanic, of selling the engine from his truck.

As Rollins lay dying, he called his father for help. Cyril Rollins raced to the area where they often fished.

"At that time, (Rollins) was still alive and attempting to speak," the arrest affidavits state, "though his father was unable to understand him."

When deputies arrived, they found a Dollar General bag in Tillman’s truck with purchases he had made about 10 minutes before Rollins had called his father. Further investigation revealed that the Wiggins brothers had been in line behind Tillman at the dollar store, and a clerk had overhead Tillman tell them that he was going fishing with Springfield, according to the affidavits.

As the investigation continued, detectives discovered the bullet casings found at the scene matched casings found where T.J. Wiggins and Whittemore, his girlfriend, were living.

The elder Wiggins is facing three counts of first-degree murder and is being held in custody without bail. His brother and Whittemore each have been arrested on allegations of accessory after the fact to a capital felony, and remain in the Polk County Jail on $46,000 bail and $45,000 bail, respectively.

All three and other family members were staying in campers at a compound along Sarver Avenue, a pothole-laden clay road west of Frostproof.

They were living off the grid, with no water or sewer service and generators to power the campers. Neighbors said the family has been living there a couple of months.

On Friday, Tony Wiggins Sr., his brother-in-law Robert Keene, 43, Nydia Ivette Liboy, 55, and Chyanne Marie Eccleston, 20, were arrested on allegations of violating environmental laws. Keene and Liboy have been released from the Polk County Jail after posting $1,000 bail and $250 bail, respectively. Wiggins Sr. remains in custody on $2,250 bail, and Eccleston, who said in social media she’s Robert Wiggins’ girlfriend, is being held on $250 bail.
