Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic had to prematurely leave the court in Game 3 versus the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. Still, he was able to write himself into the history books, becoming the third-youngest player to notch a triple-double in a playoff game in Dallas’ 122-130 loss.
At 21 years old (175 days), the Slovenian sensation joined the ranks of Los Angeles Lakers icons LeBron James (21 years old, 113 days) and Magic Johnson (20 years old).

Prior to Game 3, Doncic also passed the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most points in their first two playoff games. He scored a combined total of 70 markers, eclipsing Abdul-Jabbar’s previous record of 69.
Luka Doncic recorded his 18th triple-double of the 2019-20 campaign, tallying 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in 29 minutes against the Clips. The 6-foot-7 sophomore could have certainly upped those numbers more, had he been able to finish out the game.
Doncic sprained his left ankle in the closing minutes of the third period and went back to the locker room. He tried to give it a go at the start of fourth but was visibly hobbled by the injury. Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle decided to pull the plug to avoid aggravating Doncic’s foot and subbed him out for good.
Dallas still tried to put up a fight without their best player, but simply ran out of steam in the fourth period.
Meanwhile, Doncic’s status for Game 4 on Sunday remains unclear. The Mavs definitely need him healthy in order to stand a chance against the stacked Clippers team.
The Clippers now hold a 2-1 series lead and will look to get back-to-back wins regardless if Doncic plays or not.
