Why was Draymond Green even on the set of the TNT pregame show? Oh yeah, because the three-time All-Star couldn’t do as much with Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender as Devin Booker could.

The coattails disappeared this past year and Green had to carry an entire Warriors squad — replete with the Suns’ top-8 picks from 2016 — all by himself, earning the nickname “Triple Single” from Charles Barkley for his 8/6/6 stat line.

Now Green showed up on the TNT set on Friday to open his wide mouth yet again, deriding the Phoenix Suns franchise from out of nowhere because he can’t stand the idea that his vaunted, awesome franchise won 15 games with Booker’s normal supporting cast while this year’s Suns are on the verge of forcing a play-in to make the West playoffs.

So Green had this to say.

“Get my man out of Phoenix,” he said of Devin Booker. “It’s not good for him, it’s not good for his career. I need my man to go somewhere he can play great basketball all the time, and win.”

So that would be where, Dray? Golden State?

The vaunted Warriors suffered a ton of losses this past season, and dropped all the way from five-time Finals team to 15 wins and worst in the NBA.

Draymond Green is somehow a three-time All-Star, yet was exposed this year as nothing more than a fourth-best player on a team of Hall of Famers and, worse yet, awful as the best the player on a shitty team. Green’s stat line on a Warriors team desperate for leadership: 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists per game.

Mr. Triple Single indeed.

This is the same Draymond who called out the Suns last year for ruining Marquese Chriss’ career.

“No one ever blames the situation, they blame the kid,” Green said last preseason. “No one ever blames these shitty franchises...No Phoenix writer is going to bash the Suns, but let’s be frank, when he was there, the organization was terrible.”

Now, let’s pull the lens back a bit. While Green has never had any direct relationships with those in the Suns franchise, he’s been around a LOT of people who have. From Rick Welts to Steve Kerr to Leandro Barbosa to a dozen other support staff and players who ended up in Golden State after leaving the Suns, Green had plenty of opportunity to know the REAL about the Suns from the inside out.

Knowing that, you can deduce that Green is not wrong about his assessment of the franchise that went from 4th winningest in NBA history to losingest over the past half decade. It’s been rotten, inside and out, though it seems that everyone who leaves was somehow not the problem because they point fingers backwards each time. Guess who’s the only one standing after all these years? Yep. Robert Sarver. He is somehow loved by some of the nicest people on the planet, including Steve Nash and Jared Dudley, but hated by opposing players and some former staffers.

Enough about Draymond Green.

Enough with the ugliness.

I am a fan of this team no matter what.

And so are you, if you are reading this article on a blog dedicated solely to covering a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in a decade.

So it’s okay for me to ask Draymond very politely to suck eggs and leave my franchise alone for a bit!

At every single turn, Devin Booker has expressed his love for this franchise and for this fanbase. Publicly in media interviews, and even (kinda) privately like the CoD streaming he did with Suns fan Andrew Leezus a couple weeks ago.

Booker wants to win. And he wants to do it in Phoenix.

“We have end goals as this team,” Booker said in a recent Zoom interview. “I have personal goals for this team that I want to reach. I want a reputation in this league as being a winner. Through five years I haven’t gotten to that part of my career yet. But I’m gonna work as extremely hard as I can to get there and I feel like we have a really good bunch to do it.”

Meanwhile, his Suns are 4-0 in this Bubble and will spend the next week trying to force their way into a play-in for the 8th seed and a long-awaited playoff berth.

Even if that falls short, the Suns are set for the 2020-21 season. They will be in the playoffs next year, I predict, with their core of Booker, Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges, along with Kelly Oubre Jr. and excellent role players like Cameron Johnson. The foundation, along with Monty Williams as coach and James Jones as GM, is ready to lead the Suns into the next era.

So ignore guys like Draymond Green.

Just pay attention to Book himself, and his highly locked in team as they steamroll through the rest of this Bubble season.

“Right now a lot of people are looking at us as the 22nd or 21st team in the Bubble,” Booker said recently. “And we’re just here to be here. But that’s not the mentality that we have as a team. We’re here to win. Every time we step out on the floor we’re here to compete and make a name for ourselves.”

Focus on Booker and the Suns. Enjoy the moment!

Your Suns are the only undefeated team left in the Bubble. They have goals over these next four games. Let’s watch how it all plays out.
