DETROIT – Police are investigating a triple-homicide Sunday on Detroit’s west side.
According to authorities, it happened at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Proctor Street and Panama Avenue. Police said the three victims and the suspects got into a physical altercation that escalated into a shooting.
Residents in the neighborhood refused to speak on camera, but said they heard what sounded like a gun battle that started with two shots and then what sounded like a gun firing until it was empty.
Authorities said two of the victims are in their 30s and they aren’t sure of the age of the third man. None of the men lived in the neighborhood.
Police said the shooting suspects fled the area in a black Chevrolet four-door pickup truck and a green pickup truck.
Medics arrived on scene and pronounced two of the three victims deceased. The third was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police said one body was found on the sidewalk and another inside a bullet-riddled black SUV.
No description of the suspects was provided at the time.
