Giants recall top prospect Bart from Triple-A with Posey on IL originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Farhan Zaidi hinted that it could happen in meeting with beat writers Friday night, and sure enough, the Giants have added Joey Bart to the active roster Saturday. Logan Webb will be sent down to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Bart was seen at Oracle Park taking batting practice before Friday night's game against the Washington Nationals, and Zaidi confirmed that he had joined the taxi squad after Buster Posey was sent to the IL with a thumb contusion.
"The performance against right-handed pitching in particular has been really good. He's actually hit righties better than lefties, which is something that we've been looking for," Zaidi said Friday. "The walk rate and strikeout rate don't jump off the page but I think the at-bat quality has been better. He's been really consistent and really good defensively, as well. I'm really happy with his progress."
Bart joins Curt Casali and Chadwick Tromp as the Giants' active catchers for the final two games before the All-Star break begins Monday.

In 35 games with the Sacramento River Cats in Triple-A this season, Bart has a .338 batting average with eight home runs and 33 RBI.
Bart will be in the starting lineup for Saturday's game at Oracle Park behind the plate and will hit seventh.
As NBC Sports Bay Area Giants Insider Alex Pavlovic reported Saturday morning, Webb now will get a chance to take the mound in Triple-A during the All-Star break next week.
