Triple H has defended WWE's recent budget cuts, which has resulted in numerous wrestlers and office staff losing their jobs.
WWE has embarked on a company-wide scale-back of both their in-ring talent and behind-the-scenes employees. Multiple, instantly recognisable main roster superstars have been released across a series of cuts since April - including the likes of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Mickie James, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay - with around 40 wrestlers across WWE's different brands losing their jobs.
Meanwhile, a large number of WWE office staff, primarily from the company's digital, media, production and international offices, have also found themselves out of work. It is reported that the cutbacks in these backstage departments came due to WWE seeking to streamline their internal divisions.
Triple H, who serves as the Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy Development and COO for WWE, has now commented on the recent departures, saying that every company across the world is currently looking at ways to cut costs in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking to the New York Post, he said: "Coming out of COVID and a pandemic and everything else, all companies are having to make difficult decisions and we were no different.
"It’s a part of what we do and it happens on a regular basis, all companies have to do it. It’s not the most pleasant part of what you do, but it is what it is."
