Draymond Green posted his first triple-double of the season Monday, helping lead the Golden State Warriors to a win over Sacramento.

But the former Saginaw High and Michigan State star was upstaged by a 4-year-old towel boy.

Green’s 4-year-old son, Draymond Green Jr., was part of the Golden State operations staff Monday, a birthday gift ahead of his fifth birthday Wednesday.

Green Jr., known as DJ, picked up towels, masks and shirts during the game, adding a dance during a second-half timeout.

Green had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his franchise-leading 31st career triple double as Golden State beat Sacramento, 113-98.

But the post-game questions focused on DJ, who worked with Golden State director of team operations Eric Housen.

“I thought he was great,” Draymond Green said. “He was Johnny-on-the-spot with towels, running to the table, picking up shirts, bringing guys their stuff. He was fantastic. He stayed out of the way, but got in there when he needed o be in there.

“This organization is amazing, to allow him to sit there and help. You miss so much doing this job. Those are the moments where it’s all worth it. For him to have that experience is special. I don’t take that for granted. Coach (Steve) Kerr doesn’t have to allow that to happen.”

According to the Associated Press, DJ handed players masks, folded towels and picked up shirts. He received a pep talk from assistant coach Mike Brown and joined Juan Toscano-Anderson in a dance during a timeout.

“DJ was really solid, his hustle up and down the sidelines was very impressive,” Kerr said. “He’s got a lot to learn, though, he’s a young guy. We’ve just got to give him more reps.

“I still remember when my son Nick was a ballboy in Dallas one night when I was playing with the (San Antonio) Spurs. (San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich) invited him to fly on the team plan ... was a ballboy. It was one of the highlights of my career. It’s always fun to have family involved. It lightens things up. I think guys really enjoy it.”

The win gives Golden State a 25-6 record. Green averages 8.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.

“It’s incredible for him to be able to share that moment with us and be in the mix,” Green said. “It’s special. That’s a part of my motivation. I want him to see and understand that I can play a little bit. He’s 4 about to turn 5. For him and my oldest daughter, Olivia, to see that I can play a little bit ... it’s motivation. It gives that boost for sure.

“Obviously, we won’t be here for Christmas day. Obviously, you can’t make up sitting at home with your kids. There’s no substitute for that. If there’s anything close for him, this was it.”
