The COVID-19 Omicron variant has brought a surge of cases throughout the state and some schools are bringing back extra precautions.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, faculty, and staff will have to wear masks indoors and at the school's events, until further notice. They’re also required to take a COVID-19 test next week before returning to class.
Lincoln and Ralston Public Schools start classes this week with an indoor mask requirement. In a letter to families and staff, Ralston Public Schools Superintendent Mark Adler said he’s seen an increase in confirmed positive cases in the district since late December. He anticipates even more positives this week. The Omaha-area district will review the mandate in late January.
Creighton University will also require masks starting Saturday, except in residence halls, dining halls, private office spaces, and while exercising. Omaha Public Schools will continue the mask mandate they’ve had all school year.
