Google Drive appeared to be experiencing a widespread service disruption on Monday, showing error messages and leaving some people unable to create new documents.

Problems began around 9:40 a.m. PT, according to outage monitor Down Detector, and affected people across the US and other areas. CNET staff in San Francisco, Louisville and Maryland experienced problems with Google Drive.

In response to a request for comment, Google pointed to its G Suite Status Dashboard, which noted ongoing issues with Drive, including Docs, Sheets and Slides.

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Drive," according to a message on the status dashboard posted at 10:30 a.m. PT. "We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are unable to access Google Drive."

At 10:46 a.m. PT, Google said, "The problem with Google Drive should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support."

Some users turned to social media to express frustration at being unable to access Google Drive files while at work on a Monday.

"It's Monday and #googledrive is down. Someone, please press the 2020 reset button," tweeted user Jeremy Galante.

Others chimed in with similar messages on Monday.
