The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City’s surprising runs to Super Bowl 54 have captivated each city. It seems fans can’t get enough of all things related to the 49ers and Kansas City.

The 49ers’ popularity has extended to dog owners, some of whom have taken their love of the team in particular and football in general to a fanatical level. Some of those owners have named their dogs after famous players, coaches and other football-related names, according to a survey conducted by rover.com.

San Francisco fans still love legendary quarterback Joe Montana. Dog owners who have named their dog “Montana” is up 200 percent compared to last year. In addition, there are more dogs named after Montana than any other player in the Hall of Fame. Another popular dog name among 49ers’ fans is “Levi,” after the Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers’ home stadium.

On the other side, Kansas City will compete in the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years.

Kansas City fans who have named their dog “Clark” (after Kansas City owner Clark Hunt) is up 600 percent since last year. Kansas City fans are also enamored with head coach Andy Reid, with the name “Andy” up 250 percent.

Some fans have given their dogs more generic football names, such as “Football," which has seen a 200 percent growth year-to-year. Other names include “Fumble” (up 100 percent) and “Touchdown,” (down 33 percent).

Fans also have named dogs after their favorite adult beverage.

The name “Beer” is up 1000 percent since last year, far and away the fastest riser among beverages.

Other names include “Gin” (up 86 percent) and “Whiskey” (up 40 percent) while the name “Bourbon” is down 67 percent.

Along with the beverage names, fans also incorporated names from game day foods and snacks.

The name “Mr. Chips” was up 500 percent, while “Pepperoni” and “Cheese” were up 103 percent and 67 percent, respectively. Some people wouldn’t dream of naming their dog “Guacamole."

However, the number of people naming their dog after the avocado-based dip increased by 25 percent compared to last year.
