Each and every time he takes the court, the legend of Reed Sheppard grows.
Friday night the high-scoring star from North Laurel laced up his shoes against rival South Laurel. Seeking revenge for last year’s loss, Sheppard got that and so much more. He became just fifth player from the 13th region to score 50 points in a game since 2000, finishing the night with a triple-double: 50 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Most importantly, North defeated South 84-77 to improve to 9-0 on the season. That total actually dropped North Laurel’s average points per game to 94, just over one point less than the state record set by Oneida Baptist in 1983. See some of Sheppard’s best moments from the victory.

Sheppard, the son of 1998 Final Four Most Outstanding Player Jeff Sheppard, is averaging more than 30 points per game. The 6’2″ sophomore recently picked up a scholarship offer from Iowa. An avalanche of offers will surely cascade into his lap this summer. While watching one of his games it does not take long to realize that Sheppard is so much more than a shooter.
