No other information on the suspect was immediately available.
According to a police account of the homicide, officers found a woman and her two children with gunshot wounds Saturday afternoon at a home on the 700 block of Jessie Street while responding to a medical emergency.
Two of the victims, a woman in her 30s and a girl in her early teens, were pronounced dead at the scene. A boy between ages 8 and 12 was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
An officer had been to the house an hour earlier to perform a welfare check after a concerned family member called from Tennessee. But the woman said she was OK and declined to call her family using the officer's phone.
