Police investigating fatal triple shooting on Moncrief Road in Jacksonville - WJXT News4JAX

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three people are dead after a reported shooting at the Calloway Cove Apartments on 4229 W. Moncrief Road.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported the agency responded to a shooting at the complex before 2:20 a.m. this morning but has not responded to requests for more information.

The medical examiner and several police vehicles are still on-scene at the apartment complex. Private security is keeping reporters away from the property while police investigate.

The complex is in the same area where police say a 19-year-old was shot and killed last month. Investigators said more than 100 were in the area at the time of the killing, but police still need the public’s help to solve the shooting.

The area has struggled with violent crime for years.

In 2015, Jacksonville City Council named 4229 Moncrief Road as one of the top locations in the city you were most likely to be a victim of a violent crime.

In 2018, Millennia Companies bought the complex at 4229 W. Moncrief Road and spent $10.6 million renovating the property.

In 2019, a mother and her three children were critically injured in a fire caused by a gas explosion. Federal regulators and the News4Jax I-TEAM opened investigations into the incident.
