ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Security video appears to show the shootout that led to three fatally injured people being left in a vehicle outside a Northeast Albuquerque hospital on Wednesday.

The investigation began when police responded around 3 p.m. to a car full of gunshot victims in the parking lot of Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital, near Wyoming and Constitution. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and police say a fourth person may have fled the area .

The video, provided to the Journal by Peterson Properties, shows the incident play out in an alleyway behind Mario’s Pizzeria, near Cutler and San Pedro NE, about two miles from the hospital.

Around 2:40 p.m., a man in a white shirt is seen walking down the alley when a dark car pulls up from behind him. The man notices the car and goes to grab the door handle.

What appears to be gunfire instantly erupts from the car — bullets exploding against the cinder block wall behind him. The man ducks and moves to the other side of the car as what appear to be bullets erupt from the car windows in multiple directions.

The man opens the rear driver’s side door and launches himself into the car.

After several seconds, the man gets out and jogs back down the alleyway before approaching the car again. He shuts the rear door and opens the driver’s side door.

The man leans into the driver’s side door for several seconds before getting in, shutting the door and driving off. The entire incident lasts just over a minute.

In a Facebook post with the video, Peterson Properties called crime the No. 1 “impediment to our community’s prosperity” that led them to install “thousands” of cameras on their properties.

“We’ve shared the videos with authorities. Now, if only we could have a person with a career in law enforcement take charge, as opposed to a Harvard elite with perfect hair,” the post states, apparently referring to Mayor Tim Keller, a Harvard graduate who is up for reelection. He is being challenged by Sheriff Manuel Gonzales and others.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesman, would not answer questions Thursday about the triple homicide or the victims.

“We appreciate businesses and residents who share video surveillance with detectives, but it is unfortunate in this case that the video was also shared publicly and for political purposes, which could potentially jeopardize an investigation,” he said in a statement.
