As the MLB trade deadline creeps around the corner with less than two weeks to go, plenty of eyes will turn to the minor leagues.
Teams looking to sell will be sending scouts out on the road and firing up game film of prospects they believe can help them in the future. Contending teams will be ramping up their top prospects' road to the show. A young spark plug very well could put a team over the edge for their playoff push.
Plus, as injuries pile up, teams will have to turn to their minor league depth. That's where we begin this week's Giants minor league review.
One Step From San Francisco
Joey Bart has played a handful of games in the big leagues this season. On Tuesday, though, the Giants made their biggest promotion of the year. According to his agency, Giants No. 3 prospect Heliot Ramos has been promoted from Double-A Richmond to Triple-A Sacramento.
Ramos, 21, hit .237 with 10 home runs and a .756 OPS in 62 games for the Richmond Flying Squirrels befor his promotion. The powerful young outfielder was the talk of spring training in big league camp and continued to look like a future star the first month of the minor league season when he hit .314 with an .892 OPS in May. But he then took a massive dive in June.
In 26 games, Ramos struck out 32 times and hit just .155. He's starting to heat back up this month, though. Through 14 games in July, Ramos already has homered five times, has a .623 slugging percentage and .950 OPS.
Don't be surprised if his numbers continue to rise this month, especially going from Richmond to Sacramento. He's going from a hitter's nightmare to a hitter's paradise while coming to the West coast. The question now is, can Ramos make it all the way to San Francisco?
If he continues to improve at the plate at Triple-A, he could be the boost the Giants need. Or maybe even just what another team needs in a big trade package.
Checking In On Dubon
The Giants, of course, hope Brandon Crawford only misses 10 days after hitting the injured list with a mild oblique strain. Instead of bringing back Mauricio Dubon from Triple-A, the Giants recalled Jason Vosler to take Crawford's roster spot, and Thairo Estrada will be San Francisco's primary shortstop.
It's not like Dubon isn't doing his part for the River Cats right now.
Through 15 games, Dubon is batting .385 and has an .884 OPS. He has a .453 on-base percentage, but there's one problem: His slugging percentage is just .431. Dubon has 25 hits for Sacramento, and 22 are singles. None are homers.
He's waiting his turn right now as others earn more innings. As he showed early on, there of course is the real chance Dubon could play a big role for this team later on in the season. In the meantime, he's making plays like this.
New Name To Know
As the Giants try to adjust without their All-Star shortstop, there's a new young shortstop to get to know. Remember the name Aeverson Arteaga.
Arteaga, 18, is off to a scorching-hot start in the Arizona Complex League. After homering twice Monday night, Arteaga now has six long balls on the year, which leads all of the Complex League level -- ACL, Florida Complex League and Dominican Summer League. In 16 games, Arteaga is slashing .400/.476/.836 with a 1.313 OPS.

He also has doubled six times and has 14 RBI.
Arteaga received the biggest signing bonus of the Giants' signees in the 2019-20 international signing cycle. Write this name down, and don't forget it.
