CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians have added another left-hander to their bullpen.

Francisco Perez was recalled from Class AAA Columbus before Saturday’s game against the Brewers at Progressive Field. Outfielder Daniel Johnson was optioned to Columbus to make room.

This is Perez’s second second tour with the Indians. He posted a 1.88 ERA at Class AA Akron and Columbus this season. In 23 relief appearances Perez had three saves and struck out 81 in 52 2/3 innings. The opposition hit .144 as he averaged 13.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

Perez made his big league debut with the Indians on Aug. 12 against Oakland. He allowed three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings.

The addition of Perez gives acting manager DeMarlo Hale another lefty to go with Alex Young, Sam Hentges and Logan Allen, who has been used mostly as a starter.

Johnson has hit .221 (17-for-77) with four homers and five RBI in 30 games with the Indians. He struck out 27 times and drew four walks.

At Columbus he’s hitting .222 (49-for-221) with 10 homers and 28 RBI in 57 games.

Finally: The Brewers just announced that Brandon Woodruff will not start Sunday against the Indians. He will be replaced Eric Lauer, who pitched at Midview High School in Grafton and at Kent State.
