Watch Brendon Todd make round-killing triple bogey after going bogey-free for 61 straight holes - Golf Digest

Golf is fickle. Golf is cruel. Golf is unfair. Golf is hard. You’ve heard all the ways people describe this stupid game we love to hate. Brendon Todd, who has come back from the abyss multiple times in his career, knows them all better than anybody.

The sport that has kicked him around and picked him back up in the past was at its most cruel on Sunday afternoon at the Travelers Championship. Todd, who entered the final round as the solo leader, made 11 consecutive pars to begin his day. That wasn’t enough to stay in front, but it did keep him within two shots of Dustin Johnson as they made their way to the 12th tee at TPC River Highlands.

After splitting another fairway, Todd’s 148-yard approach shot came up short and right of the green, but rather than roll into the bunker it sat in the rough, leaving him with a tricky stance. If he was able to get up and down, Todd would have extended his bogey-free holes streak to 62. His last bogey had come on Thursday at the par-4 fourth.

Unfortunately, that streak came to an end, and that’s not even the worst news. Rather than escape with a bogey, Todd proceeded to make an absolute mess of the hole, blading his chip over the green, then coming up short with his next pitch and then coming up short again with his putter. It all added up to a tournament-killing triple. Viewer discretion is advised:

Just brutal stuff. Todd's triple sent him flying down the leader board, putting him five back of Johnson, who made par. Two holes later, Todd made another bogey, meaning he made two bogeys or worse in three holes after not making any for 61 holes. What a sick sport.
