Russell Westbrook has tied Oscar Robertson for most career triple-doubles with 181 and can own the record as soon as the Washington Wizards' next game at the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

Westbrook matched the Hall of Fame point guard with 1:39 remaining in the third quarter at the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. He finished with 33 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists in a 133-132 overtime victory he helped seal with two clutch free throws and a game-ending block.

"I take a lot of pride in doing everything I can to impact winning," Westbrook said after the game. "To be in a conversation with Oscar, I just want to thank him because he set the stage. The things he was able to do back in the day has allowed me to do the things that I do today. So I'm appreciative of that, and I'm appreciative of his support as well."

Westbrook has been on an absolute tear in his first season as a Wizard, registering his 35th triple-double this season. He had 14 in the month of April alone, the most in NBA history.

Westbrook, 32, already owns the distinction of having the most triple-doubles in a season with 42, in 2016-17.

He earned his fourth consecutive triple-double when he dished his 10th assist to Bradley Beal near the end of the third quarter in Indianapolis.

The point guard has a triple-double in 21 of his past 25 outings and has already clinched averaging a triple-double in the season for the fourth time in his career.

"To do that on a nightly basis, it's really hard to do,'' said Beal, who had 50 points in Saturday's win. "You go out there and try doing it every single night, it's very tough. It's tough mentally. It just shows how seriously he approaches the game.''

Robertson has owned the all-time triple-double record since 1961-62, the same season that Robertson became the only other player to average a triple-double.

The last time an NBA all-time record was broken was when Ray Allen passed Reggie Miller on the all-time 3-pointers made list in 2011.

"I knew he was going to get it, I didn't know if he would get it this year,'' coach Scott Brooks said. "For him to pass up Oscar Robertson is absolutely incredible. I hope some way, he [Robertson] can come [to a game], I'd love to meet him.

"There are certain guys in NBA history who you put on a pedestal and until you meet them they're sort of mythical. It's hard to believe coaching Russell 13 years ago, he was going to break Oscar Robertson's record, but I'm happy I'm saying that because he's really a special player.''
