Susquehanna, Bradford and Wayne Counties all posted over 100 new cases for the week September 8-14 while Bradford reports two deaths and Wayne had one additional fatality for the week.

Wayne led the rate of new cases at 175 for a total of 4,787.  Fatalities stand at 85.

Susquehanna County has reached over 3,000 cases since the start of the pandemic. The 110 new cases for the week pushed to total to 3,006.  Deaths remained unchanged for the week at 62.

Bradford County’s death toll is now at 102 with the two new deaths over the week.  There were 121 new cases in the county since last week for a total of 6,541.

The Associated Press reports Pennsylvania residents who are unvaccinated against the coronavirus were far more likely to contract COVID-19, become hospitalized and die than those who got the shot.

That's according to state health officials, who released data on so-called “breakthrough cases” in the state.

The data show that more than 35,000 people who were fully vaccinated have tested positive for the virus since January, representing only 6 percent of all cases statewide.

More than 1,800 vaccinated people were hospitalized and 213 died — both representing a tiny fraction of all COVID-19-related hospitalizations and deaths in Pennsylvania since the beginning of the year.
