Milder Saturday temps; some sun by afternoon - MPR News

Parts of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin will see some snow this morning. Reduced visibilities are also expected at times. Here’s an update from the Duluth NWS:

Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Duluth MN 738 AM CDT Sat Apr 2 2022 MNZ020-037-WIZ001-002-021445- Southern Lake-Carlton and South St. Louis-Douglas-Bayfield- Including the cities of Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Duluth, Superior, Washburn, and Bayfield 738 AM CDT Sat Apr 2 2022 ...BRIEF HEAVY SNOW THIS MORNING... A band of heavy snow will move eastward across Douglas, Bayfield, southeastern St. Louis, eastern Carlton, and southern Lake counties this morning. Expect visibility to drop to less than one- quarter mile for up to half an hour as the band passes. Affected locations will see rapidly changing weather and road conditions, with brief heavy snow and gusty winds. A quick snow accumulation of up to half an inch is possible. Some locations affected through 930 AM include Duluth, Superior, Solon Springs, Maple, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Maple, and Iron River. This includes portions of Minnesota Highway 23, Wisconsin portions of Highway 2, Highway 53, and Highway 63, and Wisconsin Highways 13, 27, and 35. If you are traveling and encounter adverse winter driving conditions, reduce speed and make sure headlights are on.

The Twin Cities metro area and west-central Wisconsin could see a passing sprinkle or flurry this morning. There will be a good chance of some rain showers in south-central and southeastern Minnesota Saturday morning, possibly mixed with some flakes at times.

Much of southern and central Minnesota will have sunshine and patchy clouds Saturday afternoon. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential cloud coverage from 8 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Saturday:

Clouds will linger much of the day in parts of northern Minnesota, where a few scattered afternoon sprinkles are possible.

Our average April 2 high temperature is 50 degrees in the Twin Cities. That’s about where we’ll top out in the metro area on Saturday. There will be some 30s in far northern Minnesota and some lower 50s in parts of south-central Minnesota, with mainly 40s elsewhere:
