Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas led all qualifiers in the women’s triple jump at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday.
It took just one attempt for Rojas, who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, to surpass the automatic qualifying mark with a distance of 48 feet, 3½ inches.
Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk of Ukraine hit the qualifying mark on her first jump as well, hitting a distance of 47-8½ for the second-farthest jump of the qualifying round.
Two members of Team USA, Keturah Orji and Tori Franklin, qualified for the final after placing among the 12 best performers. Orji hit a distance of 47-1¾ on her third and final attempt, while Franklin hit 47-1½ on her second attempt.
The final of the women’s triple jump is scheduled for Monday evening.
