Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to see triple-digit heat this week as summer begins to ramp up.

Temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 90s Monday as Tropical Storm Cristobal makes landfall along the Gulf Coast late Sunday and early Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Parts of East Texas may receive some rain, but none is expected in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Tuesday will be the hottest day of the week, with a high of 101, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist David Finfrock.

Southwesterly winds and compressional warming of the tropical storm are helping to fuel the high temperatures, but a weak cold front will come through late Tuesday that should push the rest of the week’s highs down into the low to mid-90s, he said.

“It’s still going to be plenty warm,” Finfrock said. “The average around this time of year is about 89.”

Low temperatures Wednesday and through the rest of the week will be in the upper 60s to low 70s, he said.

“That will be a little bit of an improvement,” he said.

On average, D-FW usually doesn’t see triple-digit temperatures until the end of June or the start of July, Finfrock said. Last year, the area didn’t hit 100 degrees until July 30.

Wednesday: 94/68

Thursday: 95/68

Friday: 94/70
