A man suspected of killing three people in North Bend on Friday morning before fleeing in a stolen truck remains on the lam.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said a Friday search for the man was unsuccessful and that the man’s location was unknown as of Saturday morning. Investigators continue to work the case.
The man is considered armed and dangerous, Frasier said. Anyone who sees the man should avoid him and call 911.
The man is suspected of running over two people near a casino, killing one of them; shooting and killing someone inside a marijuana dispensary; and killing a third person before stealing their truck.
Frasier identified the person fatally struck at an RV park at the Mill Casino as Anthony Oyster, 74. The other person who was struck, 73-year-old Linda Oyster, remained in critical condition at a hospital Saturday morning.
The Oysters are a married couple from Florida, Frasier said.
Frasier also identified 47-year-old Coos Bay resident Jennifer L. Davidson as the person fatally shot at Herbal Choices cannabis shop.
Authorities have not been able to notify the next of kin of the third person who was killed. That person’s name has not been released.
The man suspected in the triple-homicide, meanwhile, remains unidentified as of Saturday morning.
“We have not been able to identify the name and other pertinent information of the suspect in this case,” Frasier said in a news release.
Authorities found the stolen Dodge truck about noon Friday near the small community of Noti, which is about halfway between Florence and Eugene on Oregon 126. The truck had been set ablaze, Frasier said.
Lane County sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers searched for the man in the woods, and area residents were asked to stay inside.
The search was unsuccessful.
Frasier encouraged anyone who has information to contact North Bend police.
