The Cincinnati Reds have announced that they’ve sent outfielder Jake Fraley to Triple-A Louisville to continue his rehab assignment with the Bats. The outfielder hasn’t played with the Reds since April 30th. He had spent three weeks on the injured list with knee inflammation before he was sent on a rehab assignment to Dayton on Saturday. Unfortunately that game was postponed by rain before it began. Fraley was in the lineup on Sunday, starting in center and hitting leadoff for the Dragons in the first game of their doubleheader. He went 0-1 with a walk, stolen base, run, and was hit by a pitch in the game. Fraley did not play in the second game.
Last week the Dayton Dragons were playing at home while the Louisville Bats were playing in Nashville. This week things are switched up as the Dragons are hitting the road to play in West Michigan, while Louisville returns to Kentucky to play a 6-game home series against Omaha. While it’s not always possible, teams do tend to prefer that their big league rehabbing players are working at their home facilities since they have better control over every aspect of things.
Jake Fraley is one of many players on the Cincinnati Reds injured list. Some of them may be returning soon, though. Fraley appears to be on his way back. Mike Minor probably has one more rehab start remaining before he returns to the team. Jose Barrero is on a rehab assignment with the Louisville Bats right now, too. He is currently 3-9 with a double in his three games with the Bats. And during last night’s broadcast on Bally Sports Ohio, Jim Day said that Jonathan India told him he expected to begin a rehab assignment as early as today. Still, the Reds injured list is so full that the team made up of those guys could probably be competitive (if they were all healthy).
