Connor Seabold tosses one-hit gem for Triple-A Worcester - NBC Sports Boston

Connor Seabold gave the Boston Red Sox another reason to get excited about their farm system on Saturday.

The organization's No. 9 ranked prospect tossed seven scoreless innings in his start for the Worcester Red Sox. He allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out nine Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders hitters.

Seabold carried a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings.

Seabold was part of the 2020 trade that sent relievers Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Red Sox also acquired right-hander Nick Pivetta in the deal, which has proven to be a fleece for Chaim Bloom's front office.

Earlier in the season, Seabold was forced to miss two months due to an elbow injury. He made his debut for Triple-A Worcester on July 23 and has been up-and-down since. After Saturday's performance, the 25-year-old is 1-3 with a 3.73 ERA in eight starts.

If Seabold can continue to progress and stay healthy, he'll be a potential September call-up candidate for the big-league club.

The WooSox went on to beat the RailRiders, 2-0.
