The Clarke Schmidt comeback tour continued Wednesday in Worcester, Mass.
That’s where the New York Yankees pitching prospect made his Triple-A debut with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

The right-hander started for the RailRiders, and went 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits. Schmidt struck out four and walked one, throwing 62 pitches, 41 of which were strikes. His only mistake came in the second inning, surrendering a solo home run to Worcester first baseman Josh Ockimey.
Last week, the Yankees returned Schmidt from his rehab assignment, reinstated him from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A.
The 25-year-old Schmidt is working to return from a common flexor tendon strain in his right forearm that sidelined him at the start of spring training.
Joining Schmidt with Scranton is Miguel Andujar, who went 0-for-2 with a walk Wednesday while playing four innings in left field. It was Andujar’s second game with the RailRiders since joining them Tuesday on a rehab assignment. He’s been on the injured list since July 10 with a left wrist strain.
The RailRiders beat the Worcester Red Sox, 9-1. Slugger Chris Gittens hit a two-run homer for Scranton; it was his third homer in the his last four games with the RailRiders and his 10th blast of the season. Gittens also added a double to the box score and is hitting .344 in Triple-A.
Center fielder prospect Estevan Florial chipped in with a pair of doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
